Established in 1998, Furniture Share is the only furniture bank serving Linn and Benton counties and the surrounding area, providing essential furniture, household items and fresh food boxes to approximately 4,000 individuals, families and veterans in need each year. Securing shelter for individuals and families in need is not enough. A home without essential furniture is not truly livable. Beds, tables, chairs, and kitchen essentials are fundamental to transforming an empty space into a functional, dignified home. Research shows that individuals who enter housing without basic furnishings are more likely to struggle with instability and return to homelessness. A lack of essential items forces difficult financial choices—such as spending limited income on furniture rather than rent—making it harder for families to maintain stable housing. Providing furniture directly supports housing retention, ensuring that those transitioning out of homelessness can build a foundation for long-term success. Furniture provision is a high-impact, cost-effective strategy for improving lives and fostering long-term stability. Clients include those transitioning into housing after overcoming adversities such as escaping domestic violence, chronic medical conditions or disability, substance abuse, disasters such as wildfires, job loss and poverty.
